An ecstasy stiken young man been carring a way while hurtle of young mourns after rug washing in Ardahal near city of Kashan about 260 kms south of capital of Tehran Friday sept. 29 ,2000. It has been more than 1300 years since the people of the Iranian hamlet of Fin and thousands from areas in the vicinity of the city of Kashan,in the central historic province of Isfahan, first began commemorating the anniversary of the martyrdom of
Sultan-Ali son of Imam Mohammad Baqer who is the fifth Imam in the prophet Mohammad's holy household. The commemoration is held annually by on the fourth Friday of September near his masoleum on the skirts of the Karkas mountain range and
a nearby river. The ceremonies are named Rug Washing in the local jargon because the body of the martyred Shia saint was wrapped up in one before it was buried. The rug woven by the people of Kashan -- well-known for their rug weaving skill-- had been originally given to Sultan-Ali when he was alive to use as a praying rug.The rug used in these ceremonies is a replica of the original.
