سرويس بين الملل ايسنا
يك گروه طرفدار حقوق رسانه‌ها اعلام كرد: در سال 2003، 36 خبرنگار در هنگام كار كشته شدند كه يك سوم از اين افراد در هنگام جنگ آمريكا عليه عراق جان خود را از دست دادند.
به گزارش خبرگزاري دانشجويان ايران (ايسنا) به نقل از پايگاه اينترنتي الجزيره، بر اساس گزارش كميته‌ي دفاع و حمايت از خبرنگاران كه مقر آن در نيويورك واقع است، در سال گذشته‌ي ميلادي 13 خبرنگار در عراق در حين اقدامات خصمانه كشته شدند. شش تن ديگر نيز از بيماري يا تصادفات رانندگي در حالي كه مشغول گزارش خبر بودند، كشته شدند.
اين در حالي است كه در سال 2002، 19 خبرنگار در سراسر جهان كشته شدند.
در سال 2003، تعداد خبرنگاراني كه تنها در يك كشور يعني عراق كشته شدند، بيشترين ميزان تلفات خبرنگاران از سال 1995 و در الجزيره است كه در آن سال (1995) و در جريان جنگ هاي داخلي الجزاير، 24 خبرنگار تنها در يك كشور كشته شدند.
