شب آرام بود و خاموش
میشکست سکوت شب را
آوای سيرسيرکی
خيابان سرد و تاريک
کوچهها خالی
در ميان خانهها
اما
گرم میکرد
چراغ نفتیای
اين جا و آن جا را
وه که آغوش بستر
چه گرم بود و شيرين
فکنده بود سایه
خواب نازی بر همه
به تاريک روشن بامدادان
پيرزن برخاست
خفته بودند کودکان
نشايد بيدار کرد
که رحمان است او
ببخشايد آنان را
که شيرين است خواب
دير میشد
بايد نماز بر پا داشت
و ستايش کرد آفريننده را
که جان داد و سلامت
خوشی و ناخوشی
و هم اوست سزاوار ستايش
تنها اين مهربان مهربانان
با آب سردی
که میبُرد خواب را هم راه
بشست سر و دستان
که دست میشويم از دنيا
از فرق سر تا پا
ناگهان
لرزهای افتاد بر زمين
گواهی میدهم که نيست جز او
سقف سست فرو ريخت
سپیدین چادری
سرخ شد
گل گون شد سجاده
در فضا گسترد
فرياد پيرزنی
اما
خاموش ماندند کودکان
کوچه شد پر فرياد
پر ناله
شيون میزنند مردان
که ماندهاند همه دردانهها
پدر، مادر
همه جانان
به زیر تير بشکسته
میان آوار فروريخته
آوای ناله میآيد باز
ز هر گوشه، وز هر سو
وز ميان خاک
کجاست دستی
که برخيزد به ياری
که زندهاند برخی
در ميان خاک و سنگ و خشت
ای وای! ای وای!
آوای نالهها
میآيد ز هر گوشه
زخم و خون و خاک
درهم ريخته است بر کوچه
نخلها سرشکسته
نخلها سوگوار
که نخل را بشکست کمر از درد
کجاست مهربان دستی؟
که بيرون آورد
اسيران آوارها
کجاست پوشش گرمی
کجاست مهربان دستی؟
که بنشيند بر سر طفلی هراسان
که ديگر نيست مادر
پدر رفت همراه شب
شب سرد کوير
باز میآيد دوباره
نايستد دگر هيچ کس
به نمازی شکرانه
که مصيبت را نباشد
جای هيچ، جز مويه
کجاست مهربان دستی؟
که باز است در راه
شب سرد کويری
دگر نيست سرپناهی
اجاقی نيست روشن
سکوت هم رفت با دیشب
با زمين لرزه
کجاست آن مهربان مهربانان؟
چه شد آن مهربان دستان؟
چرا خشم خداوند؟
چرا قهر طبيعت؟
چه کردند اينان؟
که ايستاد زمين از لرزيدن
ولی
میلرزند همه کودکان
در ميان کوچهها
کسی نيست برگيرد از زمين
تن خاموش مانده پدر را
تن درهم پيچيدهی مادر را
که بوی لاشه و زخم و خونِ بسته
میآيد ز هر جا
با بوی خاک
با رنگ درد
به هم آغشته
تن اين چند بازمانده
گريان و داغديده
هنوز میلرزد سخت
هم از درد و رنج
هم از سرما
کجاست آن مهربان دستی
نهد مرهم بر زخمی
زداید خاک از چهره
بپوشاند تن سردی
در این سرمای بی پایان
در اين شب سرد کويری
در اين درد بازار
که هرگز ندارد پايان
لرزه بر اين تنها
کجاست آن مهربان دستی
که باز آرد اميد زندهگانی؟
